The United States has transferred six nationals from Afghanistan and Cuba to Guyana as part of a third-country deportation programme.
Guyana’s Foreign Secretary, Robert Persaud, said the six had no criminal records and were deported from the US over immigration-related issues.
They will remain temporarily in Guyana while their immigration status is assessed and could later be returned to their home countries or relocated to a third country.
