Pakistan’s military says security forces have killed 15 militants who were attempting to cross into Pakistan from Afghanistan.
The military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said the militants attempted to enter North Waziristan during the night of 31 August and 1 September.
According to the ISPR, security forces engaged the group in an operation that lasted about 36 hours, killing all 15 militants. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the area, the military said.
Pakistan has described the incident as an attempted cross-border infiltration. The claims have been made by the Pakistani military and have not been independently verified.
