UN: Pakistani attacks killed 57 civilians in Afghanistan in three months

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) says 57 civilians were killed and 342 others injured in Pakistani attacks across Afghanistan between 1 April and 30 June this year. According to the UN, the victims included six women and 31 children, with the highest number of casualties recorded during air strikes on 28 June in Paktika, Kunar and Paktia. Separately, the Afghan human rights organisation Rawadari said at least 472 civilians had been killed and 715 injured in Pakistani attacks over the past 18 months, while more than 29,000 families were displaced. Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attacks as a violation of the country’s sovereignty, while Pakistan maintains that armed groups continue to use Afghan territory to launch attacks against it, a claim rejected by the Taliban administration.
