UK appoints Stephen Doughty as minister responsible for Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Middle East

The UK government has appointed Stephen Doughty as the Minister of State responsible for affairs related to Afghanistan, Pakistan, the Middle East and North Africa. Doughty, who took up his post on 21 July, said in a post on X that he would oversee issues including Afghanistan, Pakistan, the Middle East, North Africa, sanctions and consular affairs. He added that supporting British citizens overseas and working with local governments, officials and councils across the United Kingdom would also be among his responsibilities.
