Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has held separate phone calls with his Saudi Arabian and Omani counterparts to discuss developments in the region, including the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions. Iran’s Foreign Ministry said the talks focused on regional stability and efforts to ease tensions among the parties involved. The discussions took place as Saudi Arabia reported that it had intercepted and destroyed several drones launched towards its territory from Iraq. Tensions between Riyadh and Iran-backed Houthi forces have also increased in recent days. The talks come after a two-day round of intensive negotiations between Iran and Oman, held alongside a pause in US military strikes. Officials from both sides described the discussions as constructive, although Iranian official Kazem Gharibabadi said Tehran had rejected an Omani proposal presented during the talks.
