Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of being responsible for an attack on an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea, which Iran says resulted in the death of a crew member. In a post on X, Araghchi described the incident as a “clear violation of the United Nations Charter” and alleged that the attack was carried out “on Israel’s orders with the aim of dragging Europe into its war.” The Iranian foreign minister said he had raised the issue in phone calls with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Araghchi added that, in his words, “the actions of this opportunist based in Kyiv cannot go unanswered.”
