Afghanistan Freedom Front Claims Major Offensive Against Taliban Positions in Badakhshan

The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) has claimed that its fighters carried out a series of coordinated attacks against Taliban military positions, bases and units in Zebak district of Badakhshan province. In a statement, the group said the operation began on Thursday morning, was launched from several directions. The AFF claimed that its fighters had pushed Taliban forces back from positions located in the mountainous areas surrounding the Zebak border battalion. The group further claimed that several Taliban attempts to retake key strategic locations had failed, resulting in heavy casualties among the attackers. According to the statement, at least 21 Taliban fighters, including several commanders, were killed during the clashes, while around 37 others were wounded and evacuated by helicopter to hospitals in Faizabad, the provincial capital, and other districts of Badakhshan. The Afghanistan Freedom Front also claimed that a significant amount of weapons, ammunition, military equipment and other supplies had been seized from Taliban forces during the fighting. The group added that one of its fighters was killed during the clashes, describing him as having died while fighting for the country.
