Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that more than 2,000 security incidents have taken place in the country this year, resulting in the deaths of over 560 people. Speaking at a meeting of foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), Dar said that most of the attacks targeted Pakistani security forces and civilians. He added that evidence of the involvement of foreign nationals had also been found in connection with some of the attacks. Pakistan’s foreign minister stressed that eliminating terrorism was essential for achieving lasting peace, stability and economic development across the region.
