Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that it targeted and destroyed a data centre belonging to US technology company Amazon in Bahrain. In a statement, the IRGC said the strike was carried out during the 27th wave of an operation it called “Nasr 2”, describing it as a continuation of previous attacks against what it referred to as Amazon’s intelligence data infrastructure. Bahraini authorities have not yet commented on the claim. The IRGC had previously said on 21 July that it had targeted Amazon’s central data infrastructure in Bahrain with several cruise missiles. According to the Iranian military force, the attack was carried out in response to US strikes on Iran’s Darkhovin nuclear facilities. The claims have not been independently verified.
