Trump says Iran is not ready for a deal but will be ‘very soon’

US President Donald Trump has said Iran is still not prepared to reach an agreement with the United States, despite what he described as mounting pressure following recent military action. Speaking at Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia, on Wednesday, Trump said Iran wanted a deal after coming under heavy attack. “They are being hit very hard, and they want to make a deal,” he said. Trump added that Tehran had repeatedly failed to commit to agreements, arguing that it sought to renegotiate their terms after they had been reached. “I say they are not ready to make a deal, because every time they make one, they want to change it and change everything. They are not ready. They will be ready very soon,” he said. Trump did not elaborate on any ongoing or prospective negotiations with Iran, nor did he provide evidence to support his assessment. His remarks come as tensions between Washington and Tehran remain high, with speculation continuing over whether diplomatic contacts between the two sides could resume.
