A former British military member and a former UK journalist have alleged that Afghan civilians were killed and detainees were mistreated during Britain’s military operations in Afghanistan. The two witnesses made confidential statements to the “Afghanistan Inquiry”, saying they regret not speaking out about the incidents earlier. According to their testimonies, some British forces allegedly subjected Afghan detainees to improper treatment during military operations, including claims that some prisoners were thrown from military vehicles as a form of entertainment. Christopher Green, one of the witnesses, said that three farming brothers were killed by British forces in the village of Rahim. He added that their family later received more than £3,600 in compensation following the incident. The Afghanistan Inquiry is examining allegations of possible war crimes involving British forces during their operations in Afghanistan between 2010 and 2013.
