WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump said that 1,000 missiles are ready to be launched at Iran if Tehran follows through on any threat to assassinate him. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said that if Iran carries out an assassination or attempted assassination against the U.S. president, 1,000 missiles already targeted at Iran would be launched, followed immediately by thousands more. He added that the U.S. military is fully prepared to strike large parts of Iran if necessary. Trump’s remarks came after anti-Trump slogans and placards were seen during the funeral ceremony of Ali Khamenei, including chants calling for his killing and images reportedly offering a reward for his assassination. Hours before publishing the post, Trump said he was “number one” on Iran’s assassination target list. Meanwhile, CNN, citing two informed sources, reported that Israel recently shared intelligence with the United States indicating that Iran had developed a specific plot to assassinate Trump.
