Iran Issues 2,500 Free Visas for Afghan Citizens to Attend Ali Khamenei’s Funeral in Mashhad

Iranian authorities have announced that 2,500 free visas will be issued to Afghan citizens to facilitate their participation in the funeral ceremony of Ali Khamenei in the northeastern city of Mashhad. Story: Ali Askari, Deputy Governor for Cultural, Social, and Pilgrimage Affairs in Iran’s Razavi Khorasan Province, said the free visas are intended to make it easier for Afghan citizens wishing to attend the funeral ceremony. According to Iraf News, Askari stated that the visas have been allocated “to facilitate the participation of Afghan citizens in the ceremony, allowing those interested to attend without administrative or financial concerns.” He added that Iranian authorities estimate approximately 4,000 Afghan citizens will travel to Mashhad to participate in the funeral procession of Ali Khamenei.
