Donald Trump, President of the United States, has expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the first round of talks in Switzerland, saying that part of Iran’s frozen assets has been released. He said the funds will be used to purchase food, stressing that the purchases will be made exclusively from the United States. Trump added: “Corn, soybeans, and whatever they need will be purchased from our farmers. Our farmers are very happy about this. I have received many calls showing that they are very pleased with this development.” Meanwhile, Iranian officials have not yet responded to these remarks or to details regarding the use of the first tranche of the released assets.
