Araghchi: Part of Iran’s Frozen Assets Released After First Round of U.S. Talks

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that part of Iran’s frozen assets had been released following the conclusion of the first round of negotiations between Tehran and Washington in Switzerland. Araghchi, while reposting the joint statement issued by Pakistan and Qatar on X, wrote that following these talks, some restrictions on Iran’s oil and petrochemical exports had been eased and the implementation of a reconstruction and development plan for the country had begun.. The Iranian foreign minister did not provide details regarding the amount of assets released or the timeline for implementing these measures. However, Tehran has previously identified the release of billions of dollars in frozen assets as one of its key demands in negotiations with the United States. Araghchi also thanked Pakistan and Qatar for their mediation efforts in advancing the talks, describing their role as an important step toward reducing regional tensions.
