The shipping-monitoring website TankerTrackers has reported that several Iranian oil tankers have transited a maritime corridor near Iranian ports that had been subject to U.S. restrictions for nearly two months. According to the report, at least two large tankers operated by the National Iranian Tanker Company, identified as Diona and Hero 2, have passed through the route. The vessels are reported to be carrying a combined total of approximately 3.8 million barrels of crude oil. TankerTrackers also reported the passage of another tanker, describing it as the first shipment of Iranian crude oil exports in nearly two months. The website said data on the vessels’ movements was obtained through ship-tracking systems and satellite imagery. The development follows an announcement by Iranian officials on Tuesday that U.S. restrictions affecting Iranian ports had been lifted ahead of the expected signing of an agreement between Tehran and Washington. Iran and the United States are scheduled to sign a memorandum of understanding in Switzerland on Friday. Iranian officials have said the agreement is expected to include the launch of new negotiations and the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
