French President Emmanuel Macron has said that the leaders of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates will be invited to attend next week’s Group of Seven (G7) summit in France. He stated that the meeting will focus in particular on efforts to reduce tensions with the Islamic Republic of Iran and on reviewing the security situation in the Strait of Hormuz. Macron stressed that disruptions to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, particularly the sharp rise in fuel prices, have had a direct and tangible impact on global economies. The remarks come amid rising regional tensions and growing international concerns over the security of key energy routes.
