France International Radio has issued an official statement condemning Israeli authorities for preventing the entry of its journalist, Alice Frousard, and expelling her from Tel Aviv’s airport, describing the move as a blow to press freedom. In the statement, the media outlet said that Alice Frousard had traveled to Israel for a reporting assignment, but Israeli authorities denied her entry and sent her back. France International Radio called the action incompatible with the principles of media freedom and demanded respect for the right of journalists to carry out their professional duties. The incident has also drawn reactions from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the organization Reporters Without Borders. These bodies have called on Israeli authorities to respect media freedom and journalists’ access to information. Reporters Without Borders described the move as concerning and stated that restrictions on journalists’ work could hinder the process of independent reporting. Israeli authorities have so far not provided any explanation regarding the reason for preventing the French journalist’s entry.
