Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s far-right National Security Minister, has called for a strong response following renewed Iranian missile attacks on northern Israel. In a brief message posted on Sunday in Hebrew on X, he wrote: “Tonight, Tehran must burn!” The comments came after Iran launched a wave of missiles toward Israel hours after an Israeli strike on the southern suburbs of Beirut. The Israeli military said the missiles were intercepted and that no immediate casualties had been reported. The statement stands in contrast to efforts by Donald Trump to prevent further escalation. Trump had previously urged Israel to avoid major retaliatory strikes and emphasized the importance of maintaining negotiations and a ceasefire process. Ben-Gvir is considered one of the most hardline members of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet and has recently criticized the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon.
