Iranian media have reported that the country’s rocket attacks on Israel have been suspended, on the condition that Israel refrains from striking southern Lebanon. The Fars News Agency reported on Monday, June 8, that the announcement was made by the “Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters,” the central command of Iran’s armed forces. According to the report, the body described Iran’s rocket attacks on Israel as being carried out within the framework of “support for the oppressed people of Lebanon.” It added that the attacks have been halted, but warned that in the event of continued “aggression and hostile actions, particularly in southern Lebanon,” Iran’s response would be “stronger than before.” Iran said the rocket strikes on Israel were conducted in response to Israeli air force attacks on the Dahiyeh area in Beirut. Meanwhile, Al Jazeera, citing the Israeli military, reported that rockets were fired from Iran toward Israel and that the country’s air defense systems were activated to intercept them. The developments come amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel following a recent attack in southern Beirut.
