The U.S. Department of the Treasury has announced sanctions against “Sarbaz Abdulzadeh,” an Afghan national, and “Mohammadshokul Mihandost,” a Turkish national, over their alleged involvement in the export of millions of barrels of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from Iran to markets in South and East Asia. According to a statement issued by the Treasury Department, the two individuals managed a network of shell companies based in the United Arab Emirates and used it to bypass U.S. sanctions imposed on Iran. The statement added that shipments of Iranian LPG were in some cases falsely declared as “Oman LPG” in order to conceal their true origin.
