Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai has expressed appreciation for the Qatar-based “Education Above All” Foundation for providing scholarship opportunities to Afghan girls. In a statement, Karzai said that under the programme, 74 Afghan girls had graduated from various universities in the United States. Welcoming the graduates’ achievement, he congratulated them and their families and praised organisations supporting the education of Afghan girls. Karzai also stressed the importance of continuing girls’ education, saying that opportunities for employment should be created for educated professionals to support Afghanistan’s progress and development. He further called for the reopening of schools and universities to girls, adding that Afghan girls should also have access to education and higher studies within the country.
