Strong Russian criticism over the “paper-only” status of the Trump plan for peace and reconstruction in Gaza

Russia’s representative to the United Nations has said that the Gaza peace and reconstruction initiative known as the “Trump Plan” has not been fully implemented in practice, and that a large part of it has remained at the level of promises. According to the BBC, the plan, which was approved by the United Nations Security Council six months ago, was presented by the United States and its allies as a solution aimed at ending the war and launching reconstruction efforts in Gaza. However, the Russian official told a recent Security Council meeting that although some measures, including the release of hostages and parts of exchange arrangements, had taken place, many of the plan’s key provisions had not been implemented and the humanitarian situation in Gaza remained critical. At the same meeting, the Russian ambassador stressed that the plan had “remained on paper” and had failed to bring significant changes to the situation on the ground. Meanwhile, Western officials had previously said that implementing the plan could help create conditions for stability in the region, but international observers have expressed concern over the continuation of hostilities and the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza.
