India has announced that it has sent 20 tonnes of essential dry materials used in the production of vaccines for tuberculosis, tetanus and diphtheria to Afghanistan. According to Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the shipment was delivered to support the child vaccination programme in Afghanistan, with additional consignments expected to be sent in the future. He said India remains committed to supporting the people of Afghanistan, particularly in the health sector. The assistance comes as health organisations have repeatedly highlighted Afghanistan’s urgent need to strengthen vaccination programmes and child healthcare services.
