China’s mission to the United Nations has stressed that Israel must fully adhere to the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. Chinese officials said that any decision regarding the future of Gaza should be taken on the basis of the will and aspirations of the Palestinian people, adding that the international community must not allow changes to the demographic composition or geographic status of the territory. China also called for maintaining stability in Gaza and preventing further deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the area. This comes as, despite the ceasefire agreement, rocket and artillery attacks by Israel on parts of Gaza have continued. Reports say that as a result of these attacks, thousands of Palestinians have been killed and injured. International organizations have repeatedly warned about the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza and have called for an immediate halt to hostilities and the provision of humanitarian aid to civilians.
