Russia and Ukraine have agreed to exchange 1,000 prisoners of war from each side as part of a three-day ceasefire announced during Russia’s Victory Day celebrations. US President Donald Trump said the deal was reached at his request and included a temporary halt in military operations. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky later confirmed Kyiv’s participation, while Russian state media reported Moscow’s approval. However, both sides accused each other of violating the ceasefire. Russia reported drone attacks near Moscow, while Mr Zelensky said Russian strikes had targeted Ukrainian positions during the first hours of the truce. Diplomatic efforts to end the war are continuing, although no major breakthrough has yet been achieved.
