Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai said in a post on X that, amid what he described as recent aggressions against Afghanistan, Pakistan has increased military and economic pressure on areas and residents living near the disputed Durand Line. Karzai stated that, as a result of the situation, documents described as “peace agreements” have been signed between some tribal elders from both sides of the line. He added that Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially endorsed and welcomed the agreements. According to Karzai, the move is an attempt by Pakistan to grant legitimacy to the disputed Durand Line and constitutes an act against Afghanistan’s national sovereignty. He also called on the relevant authorities to provide clarification to the public regarding the agreement.
