Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a telephone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud to discuss bilateral relations and issues concerning Afghan nationals residing in Saudi Arabia. According to a statement released on Sunday April 26 by the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral ties, the situation of Afghans living in Saudi Arabia, and a number of regional matters. The statement noted that Muttaqi emphasized the expansion of relations between the two countries and described Saudi Arabia’s role in supporting regional stability as significant. The discussion also covered the provision of facilitation measures for Afghan nationals in Saudi Arabia, as well as efforts to enhance the capacity of diplomatic missions. For his part, the Saudi Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of developing diplomatic relations and underscored dialogue and cooperation as key elements in ensuring regional stability.
