Emmanuel Macron has said that European countries must rely on their own capabilities and defend their interests, warning that current transatlantic relations can no longer be taken for granted. Macron noted that during the first presidency of Donald Trump, many European nations believed the situation was temporary and did not require fundamental changes. However, he stressed that circumstances have now shifted, making it necessary for Europeans to take collective action to safeguard their interests. He added that, under current conditions, Europe can no longer fully count on the United States as a reliable ally. The French president also emphasized the importance of strengthening internal cooperation among European countries to address emerging challenges and ensure strategic autonomy.
