Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, held meetings in Islamabad with Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir during an official visit, discussing regional developments and bilateral relations. The meetings, also attended by Ishaq Dar, focused on recent regional dynamics. Official sources said Araghchi conveyed Tehran’s “comprehensive response” to proposals under discussion to Pakistani officials. In a separate meeting with the army chief, Araghchi discussed efforts to revive stalled negotiations between Iran and the United States. Reports indicate that the possibility of holding a second round of talks in the coming days was also addressed. While details of the discussions remain undisclosed, the meetings come at a sensitive moment in regional developments. The first round of negotiations between Iran and the United States was held in Islamabad about two weeks ago but concluded without an agreement. Meanwhile, the White House announced that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are also expected to travel to Pakistan, a move seen as part of ongoing efforts to advance the talks. However, Iran has reiterated that it will not engage in direct negotiations with the United States and will instead communicate its positions through Pakistan.
