The United States Army has announced that the procurement of “Patriot” and “THAAD” air and missile defense systems will increase in the upcoming fiscal year to meet domestic requirements and strengthen national stockpiles. A U.S. military official stated that these systems are intended to reinforce reserves and enhance defensive capabilities. According to Pentagon officials, the proposed budget for next year includes a significant increase in the acquisition of next-generation “Patriot” missiles. Based on the information released, the U.S. Department of Defense plans to expand production of “Patriot” interceptor missiles by up to threefold and “THAAD” systems by as much as fourfold. Plans are also underway to boost the production of cruise missiles and several other types of munitions. Reports indicate that the United States is currently drawing on its missile stockpiles in ongoing operations, raising concerns about potential pressure on ammunition reserves in the coming days, although U.S. officials have denied any severe shortage.
