Iran Rejects Talks Under Threat Amid New Tensions with U.S.

Iranian officials have rejected negotiations conducted under pressure, as tensions rise between Tehran and Washington. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, said Donald Trump is attempting to turn negotiations into a “table of surrender” through military and political pressure. He stressed that Iran will not accept talks under threats and warned that Tehran is preparing “new options on the battlefield,” without giving details. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also said Iran will not engage in any negotiations under coercion and warned that if talks fail, Iran has alternative measures available. The remarks come amid reports of possible Iran–U.S. discussions in Pakistan, although no official confirmation or agreement has been announced. On the other hand, Donald Trump warned that Iran would face serious consequences if it refuses to negotiate, saying the country would encounter problems it has “never seen before.” He also claimed a nuclear agreement with Iran is expected to be signed on Monday in Islamabad, with a U.S. delegation led by Vice President JD Vance involved—though no official talks have been confirmed.
