Agence France-Presse reports that a Taliban delegation is expected to travel to Brussels in the coming weeks for discussions on the return of Afghan migrants. The visit is said to be coordinated with the European Commission and several EU member states. According to the report, the talks will focus on the deportation of migrants who do not have the legal right to remain in European countries. European officials are reportedly examining technical details, including flight arrangements, the capacity of Kabul airport, and the conditions of individuals upon return. The report comes amid a rise in deportations of Afghan migrants from several European countries, with around 20 nations reportedly reviewing mechanisms for returning Afghans, particularly those accused of criminal offenses. At the same time, human rights organizations have expressed concern over the return of migrants to Afghanistan amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis. The European Union has not formally recognized the Taliban government.
