KABUL: Tajuddin Oyewali, a representative of UNICEF in Afghanistan, has stated that Afghanistan remains among the countries in urgent need of extensive emergency aid into 2026. Oyewali mentioned that continuous financial support will assist UNICEF in providing healthcare services to 12 million people in Afghanistan. He indicated that this aid will enable emergency education for 5.5 million children and safeguard nearly 10 million children from diseases. Previously, UNICEF had warned that financial support continues to be a significant challenge, and due to a 72% reduction in the budget for nutritional programs in 2025, the organization has limited its activities in 20 countries. United Nations reports have indicated that sustained financial support plays a fundamental role in providing vital services to children and families and in addressing humanitarian crises, which can save the lives and health of millions.
