KABUL: Jabir Waziri, a journalist for Moby Group and Tolo News, was arrested today by police in Pakistan, sources reported. According to sources, there has been an increase in the arrests of Afghan journalists in Pakistan in recent days, many of whom are awaiting the processing of their immigration cases. The primary reason cited for these arrests is the lack of valid visas, while Afghan citizens are facing significant challenges in obtaining or renewing residence visas in Pakistan. Previously, the Afghanistan Media Support Organization (AMSO) announced that five Afghan journalists had been arrested by the Pakistani police in the past two weeks. This organization stated that the Pakistani government refuses to extend the visas of Afghan refugees. AMSO has called on media support organizations and human rights groups to take immediate action to protect Afghan journalists residing in Pakistan. Since the Taliban regained power in Afghanistan, many journalists have been forced to flee the country due to security concerns and fears of retaliation, seeking refuge in neighboring countries, particularly Pakistan.
