GHAZNI: Residents of Jaghatu District in Ghazni Province are expressing concerns over the unstable condition of the Begum Minaret, a historical monument dating back approximately a thousand years. They state that due to natural disasters, wear and tear, and negligence from officials, the structure is on the brink of collapse and requires urgent restoration. Some Jaghatu residents have complained about the lack of attention from authorities regarding the preservation and renovation of historical sites. Abdul Razaq, one of the local residents, remarked, “If more attention is not paid to the restoration of this structure, it will collapse due to the neglect of past governments.” Another resident, Sayed Amin, added, “The Taliban should pay attention to this matter. Tourists come and ask why this site is not being restored. It belongs to the state and requires serious action.” Abdul Wadud, another citizen, stated, “Our request is to restore the Begum Minaret so that it does not turn into a ruin.” Residents of Jaghatu emphasize that the Begum Minaret is not just a historical artifact, but also represents the cultural identity of the region, and immediate action is necessary for its repair and protection.
