TEHRAN: Gholam Hossein Mohseni Eje’i, the head of Iran’s Judiciary, has stated that individuals who, in his words, engaged in “violent actions” during recent protests must be tried and punished as quickly as possible. According to The Associated Press on Wednesday, he emphasized that judicial proceedings related to the protests should not be delayed, and sentences must be issued on time. Meanwhile, some human rights organizations have reported that the death toll from the protests exceeds 2,500, a figure that has not been officially confirmed or denied by Iranian authorities. Simultaneously, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that if executions of protesters are carried out, Washington will respond accordingly.
