UNDP representative praises the resilience of Afghan people

KABUL: Stephen Ngunzi, the representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for Afghanistan, shared a message of congratulations to the Afghan people on his X account to mark the New Year, accompanying it with a short video. In his message, he stated that the year 2025 was one of courage, patience, and relentless efforts for the people of Afghanistan, emphasizing that Afghans continue to bravely rebuild their lives despite numerous challenges. Ngunzi remarked, “We close out 2025 in honor and gratitude to the people of Afghanistan, who continue to rebuild their lives with courage and determination. It is my privilege to accompany them on this journey.” He also extended New Year wishes to all Afghans, expressing hope that the new year would be one of goodness, blessings, and more opportunities. Furthermore, Ngunzi highlighted the importance of continued support from the international community alongside the Afghan people, stating that UNDP will persist in its efforts to improve lives and sustainable development in Afghanistan. This message comes at a time when Afghanistan still faces economic, humanitarian, and social challenges. However, according to UN officials, the courage of the people and their resolve to rebuild their lives are seen as vital sources of hope for the future.
