KABUL: An American think tank has warned that tensions between Pakistan and its neighbors, India and Afghanistan, may once again escalate into armed conflict in 2026, potentially making South Asia one of the world’s most dangerous regions. According to a recent report by the Council on Foreign Relations, the world is rapidly heading toward instability and violence, with the possibility of numerous dangerous global conflicts emerging in 2026, posing serious threats to international peace and U.S. national security. The report predicts that violence levels in Gaza, Ukraine, Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan could rise, while crises in Africa and the Middle East may intensify, leading to increased humanitarian disasters. It warns that threats to global security have reached their highest levels since World War II.
