DUSHANBE: Special envoys from China, Russia, Iran, and Pakistan gathered in Tajikistan to discuss the situation in Afghanistan. The meeting took place on the sidelines of a Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, hosted by Tajikistan, according to China’s special envoy, Yue Xiaoyong. During the meeting, various issues related to Afghanistan were addressed, with an emphasis on collaborative efforts for the country’s reconstruction. However, Yue did not specify the main focus of discussions regarding Afghanistan. Since the Taliban regained power in Afghanistan, discussions and dialogues among regional and neighboring countries have significantly increased. Notably, some neighboring nations, including Pakistan, are engaging in these discussions amid tense economic and security situations in their own countries. Concerns about the presence of armed groups in Afghanistan were frequently raised during these meetings, a claim that the Taliban has repeatedly denied.
