WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order yesterday officially renaming the Department of Defense, commonly known as the Pentagon, as the “Department of War.” In his statement regarding the name change, Trump emphasized that this move aims to showcase the military power of the United States. He noted that the term “Department of Defense” had largely connoted a defensive posture, while the U.S. is currently in an offensive state, prompting the renaming. After entering the White House, Trump signed various executive orders, implementing significant changes across the country. Many of these orders withdrew the U.S. from international organizations, including the World Health Organization. Additionally, Trump took measures to shut down certain American media outlets and dismissed thousands of employees from various government agencies.
