WASHINGTON: An armed individual opened fire at a Catholic school in Minneapolis, resulting in at least two fatalities and 17 injuries among students, authorities in Minnesota, have reported. The attacker used a pistol and a gun, firing dozens of rounds through the church windows. Officials indicated that the shooter took his own life behind the church building after the attack. “This was a deliberate act of violence against innocent children and others who were worshiping. Shooting in a church filled with children is an act of cruelty and terror,” said Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara to reporters. Local television showed parents anxiously waiting as police evacuated students from the school. Authorities stated that the shooter was wearing black clothing, was approximately 20 years old, and had no criminal record. Police have not released the attacker’s name and are working to determine the motive behind the incident. The Minnesota Children’s Hospital reported that six children were taken there for treatment.
