KABUL: U.S. President Donald Trump has once again claimed that American military equipment has been left over in Afghanistan “foolishly.” During a cabinet meeting, he asserted that the U.S. possesses the best military equipment but suggested that some of it remains in Afghanistan. Trump also mentioned that the amount of military equipment left in Afghanistan was not substantial, but the reason for abandoning such equipment remains unclear. Previously, the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs referred to the equipment present in Afghanistan as the assets of the Afghan government. Trump has repeatedly characterized the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan as a disgrace, emphasizing that military equipment was indeed left behind. On the other hand, several American military experts and generals, including John Kirby, have stated that no U.S. military equipment remains in Afghanistan. It’s noteworthy that U.S. forces withdrew from Afghanistan in August 2021 after 20 years, leading to the Taliban regime taking power in place of the republic.
