GAZA: Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced today, that Australia will officially recognize Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly in September. He stated that this action will follow commitments made by Palestine and described the “two-state solution” as the best hope for ending violence and suffering in the Middle East. In response, Israel claimed that such a decision “rewards terrorism.” Simultaneously, New Zealand’s Foreign Minister Winston Peters reported that the country is reviewing the process of recognizing Palestine. Previously, the United Kingdom, France, and Canada had also indicated their intentions to recognize Palestine.
