OTTAWA: The Canadian government has announced that it has delivered approximately 10 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza by air, valued at £21,000. Reports indicate that this aid includes lentils, oil, powdered milk, and other food items. The Canadian government stated, “This extraordinary action is being taken in collaboration with our international partners, as access to humanitarian assistance in Gaza is extremely limited and needs have reached unprecedented levels.” This comes as Reuters reports that five more Palestinians have died due to hunger. Previously, UNICEF stated that from the beginning of 2024 until the end of May this year, over 16,000 children in Gaza are facing malnutrition. Additionally, it has been noted that approximately 2.3 million people in Gaza are now entirely dependent on external aid. It is important to mention that Israel has completely blockaded Gaza since March 2 of this year, preventing the delivery of humanitarian assistance.
