KABUL: Dr. Mohammad Sadiq Farooq, a former member of Afghanistan’s national football team in the 1960s, has passed away. According to a report from the Afghanistan Football Federation, he was one of the prominent players in the history of Afghan football, starting his sports career with the Naderia High School football team, later playing for the Kabul University team and the national team. Dr. Farooq also contributed to the education sector through sports and subsequently worked as a coach in Afghan football. Throughout the years, he played a significant role in the development of football and supported the younger generation of athletes both inside and outside Afghanistan.
