KABUL: The UN Security Council will hold another emergency meeting tomorrow (Friday)
to discuss the ongoing crisis in the region.
Last Friday morning, Israel conducted airstrikes on several facilities and areas in Iran. In response, Iran began retaliatory attacks on Israel.
Both sides have exchanged attacks multiple times, resulting in financial damage and casualties, though exact figures remain unclear.
Following the tensions, the Security Council had previously convened an emergency meeting on June 14, emphasizing the need to de-escalate tensions and increase diplomatic efforts to prevent the crisis from escalating.
As reported by the BBC, the new Security Council meeting is scheduled for tomorrow (Friday) at 10 AM New York time, at the request of Iran, Russia, China, Pakistan, and Algeria.
The current state of the crisis in the region will be discussed.
Danny Danon, Israel’s representative to the UN, has also announced his intention to attend the meeting.
