Mia Park, head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) office in Afghanistan, says the greatest concern among Afghan women and girls is that they may be sidelined from the attention and priorities of the international community and ultimately be forgotten. Speaking to Sky News, she stressed that the international community must stand alongside Afghan women and girls, ensure they are not forgotten, and continue supporting their rights and opportunities. Park warned that a decline in global attention to the situation of women and girls in Afghanistan could have serious consequences for their future. The Islamic Emirate has previously stated on multiple occasions that the rights of all Afghan citizens, particularly women and girls, are protected and upheld within the framework of Islamic Sharia.
