KABUL: The Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Department of Parwan province has reported that two people have died from Congo fever, with fifteen others infected.
This comes as Kabul’s Infectious Disease
Hospital confirmed approximately 100 suspected cases of Congo fever in the past month.
Hospital officials noted that positive cases of Congo fever have risen by 10 to 15 percent this year compared to last year.
Doctors advise the public to use gloves and masks when slaughtering animals during Eid al-Adha to prevent infection.
Congo fever is a deadly disease characterized by severe fever and bleeding from the nose.
The virus resides on the skin or under the fur of animals and does not infect them, but it can be transmitted to humans through contact with animal blood. If not diagnosed and treated promptly, this disease can lead to death.
