KABUL: The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has reported that more than 22 million people in Afghanistan, including 12 million children, urgently require humanitarian aid and support services.

In a report released yesterday, the United Nations Children’s Fund highlighted these alarming figures as indicative of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.

Recently, UNICEF identified severe malnutrition in over 829,000 children, with approximately 37,000 of them-59% being girls-receiving treatment.

UNICEF provides primary, secondary, and specialized health services through 2,406 fixed health centers across 34 provinces in Afghanistan.
